Tasher’s Favorite Swiss Steak Recipe


Ingredients for Tasher’s Favorite Swiss Steak Recipe


    • One 2 to 2.5 pound round or top round steak, about an inch thick (I use cubed steak)
    • 4 Tbsp. of flour
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 4 Tbsp. olive oil,
    • 1 chopped onion
    • 2 clove minced garlic
    • 2 cups tomato sauce
    • 2 tsp. each of thyme, sage, marjoram


    Rub flour into both sides of the steak then salt and pepper. Put steak in the pan with hot oil; cook 10 minutes on each side.

    Remove the steak. Put onions and garlic in the pan and sauté scraping pan so all the drippings get mixed with the onions then add half the spices. Put the steak on top of the onions. Sprinkle the rest of the spices on top of the steak. Pour in 2 cups tomato sauce to the pan.

    Cover and bring to a simmer and then lower the heat to the lowest heat possible that you can maintain simmer.

    After 1 1/2 hours of cooking, turned the steak over, and cook for another 30 minutes.
