dr208 coffee

Many of us love a nice cup of coffee to get us going in the morning. Did you know that you can find get even more uses for the leftover grounds? There are so many everything from beauty tricks to odor reducers and pest repellents.

FACIAL EXFOLIATION MASK:

Mix 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds with 1 teaspoon coconut oil and 1 tablespoonful Shea butter. Mix together till you have a paste-like consistency. Apply on your face by rubbing your fingers in small circles. Let dry for 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water and rubbing wash cloth in small circles.

DAILY SCRUBBER:

Keep a little container with coffee grounds in your shower. Mix a handful of coffee grounds with your favorite shower gel or body scrub.

SKIN SOFTENER:

Make a body scrub equal parts coffee grounds, coconut oil and brown sugar. Gently massage it on in the shower, rinse, be soft.

CELLULITE CREAM:

Instead of spending lots of money for expensive brands, make your own and it really will work just as well. Just make a paste of coffee grounds and coconut oil. Rub in circular motions for about 5 minutes then rinse with warm water

CELLULITE REDUCER:

Mix 1/4 cup warm, used coffee grounds with 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and apply the mixture to your problem areas. I advise you do this over an old towel or newspaper. Next wrap your problem areas with the coffee ground in plastic wrap to hold everything on. Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Unwind the wrap, then brush off the coffee grounds and shower with warm water. For best results, repeating the procedure twice a week is recommended.

SEPIA DYE:

Soak used grounds in hot water, and make a dye bath. This can be used for Easter eggs, fabric, paper, and even your hair for a lovely, soft brown hue.

REDUCE ODOR:

Take a sachet bag or old panty that have been cut to size and fill with dried coffee grounds. Tie up the ends with ribbon then put them anywhere stinky smells creep up. Places like but not limited to tackle boxes, car, gym bags, sports equipment, stinky sneakers, freezer, refrigerator or rub them on your hands to get rid of food prep smells.

FURNITURE SCRATCHES:

Coffee stains, why not use it to stain the scratches on your furniture? First, make a thick past with coffee grounds and furniture oil. Rub it on the scratch even use a Q-tip to get it in really good. Now take the paste and make a little mound over the scratch if you can. Then leave it on for 5 minutes. Wipe off in a circular motion and then cover the entire wooded area of the furniture. The coffee grounds should have bled onto the furniture, hiding the imperfections while also making the wood shine.

KEEP OUT STRAY CATS:

Sprinkle dry coffee grounds around the perimeter of your yard. Cats can’t stand the smell and find it quite offensive.

INSECT REPELLENT:

Sprinkle old grounds on the ant mound or around any other places you don’t want ants. The grounds are also used to repel snails and slugs.

CLEANING PRODUCTS:

Coffee grounds are slightly abrasive; they can be used as a scouring agent for greasy and grimy stain-resistant objects.

STOP THE DUST WHEN CLEANING THE FIREPLACE:

Before cleaning the fireplace, sprinkle the ashes with wet used coffee grounds. This will weigh down the ash and thus eliminate the unwanted clouds of dust.

PREMIUM POTTING SOIL:

My Grandmother was right all those years ago she loved to garden. Each day we would have to sprinkle the old coffee ground in the garden, around the flower beds or in her potted plants. She had everything scheduled as far as what plants got the coffee grounds on which day. Research has shown she was right. Adding coffee grounds to your potting soil your plants will be shinier, healthier, and can grow up to 50% more. This is especially for PH loving plants. The coffee grounds will neutralizes the alkalinity of some plants. An added bonus is by mixing coffee grounds to your garden or potted plants will extend the life of the soil.

LOVE YOUR CARROTS:

If you want to boost a carrot harvest, mix the seeds with dried coffee grounds before planting. The extra bulk makes the little seeds easier to manage, plus the coffee grounds will nourish the soil and help repel pests.

DON’T WORRY IF YOU DON’T DRINK COFFEE… Go to your local coffee shop, many will give out their used grounds for free!
