Dragging A Drunk Husband Home

by Gint Aras     When married couples make scenes in public, the rest of us are left pondering.     Last weekend I was seated in the patio of a Vilnius café with some friends. It was rather early on a pleasant evening, not yet eight o’clock. This café is frequented by a large variety of people, young and old, locals and tourists, some well dressed, others unbathed bohemians. You can eat a good, modestly priced dinner there, or you can order a Read more [...]

Phil Met Foxy on a Free Online Dating Site

Phil is normally a very dot the I’s, cross the T’s type of person. I don't know if it is because of his busy schedule or what, but for some reason he didn't do his due diligence involving his online dating. When Phil met Foxy on a free online dating site, like others do she did not have a photo, No photo is always a huge red flag to me, and I did not hesitate to tell Phil just what I thought. People that do not have a photo many times are trying to hide something and that can be a problem. Read more [...]

Yam Pancakes

I took one leftover yam from dinner (you can leave these in the flesh, and put them in the fridge.  They are great as leftovers or to use in recipes)   Yam Pancakes 1/2 cup of the cooked yam scooped out from it's skin. 1 cup low fat milk 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 egg I blended all ingredients in a blender (Magic Bullet Actually), until it was smooth and runny. Then I put in a bowl: 3/4 cup whole wheat flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt Then added the Read more [...]

I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar? (I Need a Man!)

by Gretchen Schiller   I am woman, hear me roar… “I NEED A MAN!” No shit, right? I was just as horrified as you were when that echoed through my mind. But it did. So here I am throwing it out there in case you Pretty Mamas have felt the same on occasion. In Helen Reddy’s infamous song, “I Am Woman,” we can all agree that the context of her lyrics preached the opposite; women do not need men.       Here’s the deal. I’m tired of the conviction, Read more [...]

A Date May be Different than They Present Themselves Online

Many times when doing an online profile, people stretch the truth and Bridget seemed to be an expert. Rodney had been communicating with Bridget for about a month, and they finally decided to meet and go out for dinner date. When Rodney got to the restaurant, he noticed her weight was more like 195 pounds not 110 pounds. That was just the beginning of the interesting differences in her profile. As they were eating, she mentioned her 24-year-old son. Rodney a few moments later he was reminded that Read more [...]

Darrel had an Interesting Path to Finding His Love

Darrel met Angie in the local hardware store when she asked him if he knew which cordless drill worked the best. She explained she needed to do repairs on the wood fence in her yard. By the end of the shopping tips, they had exchanged numbers and agreed to meet for dinner and a movie the next Friday night. Darrel arrived at the restaurant first and was seated promptly. After about five minutes, Angie called to say she was running late and would be there in a couple minutes. Thirty Read more [...]

S.O.S. Chili – Failproof Spring Cleaning in Less Than 20 Minutes!

By Gretchen Schiller “This chili is fantastic!” The Trader Joe’s employee eagerly agrees and gets his spiel underway, “And it’s low-fat, cheap and has lots of protein!” He had me at low-fat. The six cans of chili for only $5 dollars didn’t hurt his pitch either. I enthusiastically pile six cans into my cart. Well, stamp “SUCKER!” on my forehead and call it a day. Can’t wait to get home and enjoy my new favorite Turkey Chili for dinner! An hour later. Dinnertime. Huh. Read more [...]

Calorie Cutting Tip: Frozen Fruit

Banana Soft Serve As I have gotten older, it has become harder and harder not to gain weight, I just look at something and the pounds come on. I have a bit of a sweet tooth and love desert. Ice cream is my favorite after dinner treat. Deciding to cut calories first I would reach for frozen yogurt or sherbet. Then I found out the calorie count for a cup is 140 for frozen yogurt and 260 for sherbet. Frozen fruit is only 120 for that same size cup.   When bananas Read more [...]

A Stranger is a Future Friend that I haven’t Learned Their Name Yet!

I am happy that in my life and here is an example why. The woman I viewed as my “best friend” for over three decades told her cousin I had gotten divorced and gave him my number. I lived on one side of the country, and he lived on the other. We texted, emailed, and talked on the phone for about three months. I asked him if he was involved with anyone and he always reassured me that there was no one in his life. He then asked me to come and visit him since I had not been anywhere in Read more [...]
