Okay, Ladies, Woman Up…Father’s Day is Coming!

Last year on Father’s Day it had been a year since Charles and my divorce.

It took me awhile to come up with a gift idea that Ana Lu could make for him. This is perfect for single moms on a budget who are trying to think of a thoughtful gift. Really, for all of us busy moms and consequently last minute shoppers. It has sat on the shelf in his house ever since.

Only 15 bucks, easy peasy and he loves it…

• Go the the store and buy a window box frame, heavy cardstock paper and an ink pad. Be sure to buy at least 20 pieces of paper; if you can you get a good handprint on the first shot, you’re a genius. It took Ana Lu and me at least a dozen attempts. • Make an ink handprint of your child’s hand on the paper. Then write “Happy Father’s Day!” with a Sharpie. • Put the mat around it. • Frame it. • Have your munchkin give it to him on Sunday and you’re good to go.

Oh. And don’t forget to have a couple liters of hand sanitizer nearby so you can get the ink off your child’s hands before you see a trail of little handprints on your couch.

Happy Father’s Day to my Dad, Charles, Charles Senior (Grandpa) and all of you dads out there – and to the uncles, coaches, youth leaders and friends who help to raise all the children in the community.

A glimpse at entire frame — a window box frame adds a little pizazz to the gift and gives him the choice of putting it on a shelf or hanging it. Granted not the greatest photo, but a better angle of the entire frame.  To Charles’ credit, it was super hard to take a photo straight on that didn’t include his reflection. Poor guy must have sent me a dozen photos. Thanks, Charles!
